G.HARISHANKAR - KANJIRA VIDWAN.............(b.June 10, 1958)
Son of Lakshmi bai and Govinda Rao, who was a pecussioninst, and a
disciple of his father, Harishankar had advanced training with Ramnad
Murugaboopathy and Palghat Mani Ayyar. He has been accompanying top and
middle level vidwans giving able support. Has a fast and rich fingering.
HYDERABAD SISTERS ( Lalitha & Haripriya) - VOCALISTS.............(b.October 6, 1950; b.September 27, 1952)
Born of P.Sivachandra, a Government Oficer, they had their musical
training under T.G.Padmanabhan, a disciple of Alathur Venkatesa Ayyar.
Lalitha & Haripriya give concerts as 'Hyderabad Sisters' and are 'A'
grade musicians. The popular duo have strong, pleasing voices which
blend well. Verve in presentation, fidelity to laya and well-planned
concerts add to their popularity. They are giving a large number of
concerts for All India Radio and sabhas. They are employed in musical
institutions in the twin cities Hyderabad and Secunderabad. They combine
well; their brika-based voice is sweet and their rendition is
satisfying. Haripriya is qualified in Law also. Their concerts are
absorbing and entertaining. Delineation of ragas is impressive and swara
prastara is well conceived and structured. It is said that the sisters
follow the style of Alathur Brothers.
