BOMBAY S. JAYASHRI ( VOCALIST)
Jayashri's
idea of communicating her music through technique is one of the major
reasons for her success as a concert artiste. Her unhurried approach to
music helps her effectively communicate her ideas to her audience.
Jayashri hails from a family of musicians. She is the disciple of the
great violin Maestro Lalgudi Shri. G. Jayaraman.
She had her initial training from Smt. T.R. Balamani of Bombay. Jayashri
has given her first concert in 1982 at Bombay. She is an 'A' grade
artiste of AIR, Chennai. She won the first prize in the Music
competition conducted by the Music Academy in the year 1987. She has
also won many prizes at the University level.
Jayashri has received many awards from Shanmukhananda sabha, Bombay.
"Tambura Award, " Best vocalist award", etc. are some of the awards
bestowed on her. She also received the Best Vocalist Award from Music
Academy, an endowment of Carnatic Music Association of North America,
1991.
