Anna Zoological Park
Anna Zoological Park at Vandalur is an open-air zoo and has a rich variety of different species of mammals, reptiles and birds. It is spread over an area of 1,265 acres. The animals roam in natural surroundings and there is also a special enclosure for nocturnal creatures. Its main attractions are safari parks, a nocturnal animal house, an aquarium, and a natural museum.

Children's Park
Located on Sardar Vallabhai Patel road next to the Gandhi Mandapam at Guindy, this is a large area with parks and play area for children.

Snake Park
This park is located at Guindy adjoining the Children's park. It was founded by Romulus Whitaker, an American. There are a wide vareity of snakes on display. The venom extraction show is held regularly.

Kalakshetra 
A world renowned centre of excellence for dance, music, arts and crafts, this institution was founded at Thiruvanmiyur by Rukmini Devi Arundale in 1936 in order that India may once again revive and develop its ancient culture and set a standard of true Art in its new life after its freedom. . Kalakshetra literally means ( Kala - Arts, Kshetra - Field or Holy place ) a Holy place of Arts. It seeks to build up the characters of all faiths, the peaceful Garden of Remembrance, the Adyar Banyan tree with its roots spreading over 40,000 sq.ft. and its library, a research centre in eastern civilization, philosophy and religion. The library houses a wonderful collection of rare Oriental manuscripts written on palm leaves and parchment. The Society conducts an annual convention visited by Theosophists from all over the world.

Lalit Kala Akademi
It is located on Greams Road. Paintings, artefacts from artists and artisans from every nook and corner of India can be seen here. Periodic exhibitions of art works are conducted here. Equal importance is also placed on literature, especially the vernacular ones.

Tamilnadu Ovia Nunkalai Kuzhu
A state-level cultural organisation set-up on Pantheon Road, Egmore by the State Government for promoting visual and graphic arts in the state through well-structured programmes.

Birla Planetarium:
Part of the Periyar Science and Technology Centre at Kotturpuram, this is a voyage of discovery for the young and the old. With a seating capacity of 236, this airconditioned modern planetarium brings to life celestial phenomena replete with special effects. It also conducts courses in astronomy and night-sky observations for public on every second saturday. Adjoining the planetarium is a Periyar Science and Technology Museum. Special shows on astronomy are held on a regular basis.


Fort St.George:

Today, the seat of the State Legislative Assembly, it was once a British bastion. Built in 1640, the fort stills retains its large walls, massive wrought iron gates and deep moats. Some of the original buildings still remain intact. The Fort Museum (with a collection of objects and letters), St. Mary's church (Robert Clive was married here), Town Hall, the tallest flagstaff lie within this fort.

Film City:
Situated at Taramani, a favourite fixture with film producers of the South, it is also a popular tourist spot. The restaurant in this complex, Taramani Talkies, will appeal to those who are looking for an off beat decor.

High Court:
A magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. In 1841, a granite Doric column of 49m was erected to function as the second light house. Besides the High Court, the Small Causes Court and the City Civil Court function here.

Ripon Building:
The attractive white structure, close to Chennai Central, is 252 ft. long and 126 ft wide. It has a 132 ft tall tower and a mighty clock 8 ft in diameter. Current ly, it is the headquarters of Chennai Corporation.
