 Cholamandal Artist's Village

This artist village situated 20 kms from Chennai on the Mahabalipuram road was started in 1966. The artists - painters and sculptors work in idyllic surroundings. There is an exhibition of their works. Their artworks can be purchased here.

Muttukadu
This is a large lake formed out of the backwaters, with boating and wind surfing facilities.

Crocodile Bank
In this crocodile farm about 40 kms from Chennai on the Mahabalipuram road, several species of crocodiles, alligators & other reptiles are bred in captivity, kept in open, marshy enclosures. There is a regular venoem extraction (from snakes) show.

Covelong
This is a small fishing village 40 kms from Chennai on the Mahabalipuram road. There are the remains of a fort which now functions as a luxury beach resort. Facilities for windsurfing and swimming are available here. A dargah and an ancient church are located here.

Vedanthangal
This bird sanctuary is located 83kms from Chennai. The village irrigation tank serves as the home of the migratory water birds. The birds nest on the branches of submerged trees. Pelicans, comorants, egrets, moor hens, herons, kingfishers are some the birds that can be seen here. The best season time is between October and March, when a large number of migratory birds visit. The birds can be viewed from the bank or from the watch tower.

Thirukazhukundram
The Vedagiriswarar temple is situated in Kanchipuram district, on the Chengulpet-Mahabalipuram road. It is also known by other names - Uruthrakodi, Nandipuri, Indrapuri, Narayanapuri, Brahmapuri, Dinakarapuri, Muniganapuri, Patchi Theertham, etc.
