Thirumaaliruncholai
Thirumaaliruncholai temple is situated
about 12 miles from Madurai.
The Moolavar is Azhagar, Kallazhagar,
Maalaangaarar, Maaliruncholai Nambi seen is standing posture facing east.
The moolavar & utsavar are both
seen with Pancha Ayudhams (5 weapons). The small falls - silambaaru
(Noopura Gangai) is about 2 1/2 miles up the hill. It is said that
Brahma poured water from his kamandalam to the Lord Vishnu's feet during
his Trivikrama avatram. The drops that fell of his Silambu (a jewel
that adorned the Lord's feet) formed the Silambaaru. This hill is
formed in the shape of a rishabam & the adjoining hills in the form
of cows & hence the name Vrishabaathri to this sthalam.
