Dr G Sankaranarayanan will deliver the Award Lecture on "வரலாற்றுப் போக்கில் சைவம்" ("Saivism in History") in Tamil.

In his Lecture, the speaker will take stock of the origins and
development of Saivism and the emergence of its different cults over the
centuries.
Dr.G.Sankaranarayanan, Professor of Sahitya, National University of
Sanskrit, Tirupati, is the Winner of the THT-Prof. S Swaminathan
Heritage Award for 2021.
The Award, instituted by THT in 2020, aims to honour the work of
individuals under the age of fifty who have made significant
contributions to deepening the general public’s knowledge of Indian
heritage, widening the audience for heritage appreciation, and in the
process strengthening our existing knowledge base of heritage assets and
resources.
The award is named after Prof S. Swaminathan, retired Professor from
IIT-Delhi and co-founder of the Tamil Heritage Trust, whose books,
monographs and talks on many facets of India’s heritage continue to be a
source of inspiration for heritage enthusiasts.
The winner was chosen from a pool of more than twenty nominations from
across the country by a distinguished 6-member jury comprising
historians, scholars and public intellectuals.

Inviting Nominations for the THT-Prof S Swaminathan Heritage Award 2021
As a lover of Indian heritage you will have come across someone who is
doing great work in the area of heritage. He or she may be contributing
in one or more of the following ways:
a. Preserving our heritage - through conservation, documentation etc.,
b. Disseminating knowledge and information about our heritage - through
writing books, articles, blog posts, giving lectures, conducting
heritage walks etc
c. Deepening our understanding of our heritage through academic research, field work, etc.,
Tamil Heritage Trust has instituted the THT-Prof S Swaminathan Heritage
Award to recognise the contributions of such "heritage heroes". The
award was instituted in 2020. The winner of the inaugural edition of the
award was Mr Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan.

A special documentary titled 'Raja Ravi Varma: Preserving A Master’s Glory'
by Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation on restoration and preservation
of the artist’s work on the occasion of Raja Ravi Varma’s 173rd birth
anniversary. This documentary showcases restoration projects undertaken
by the Foundation for several private collectors who own paintings by
the master artist. Each of these works have been skillfully restored to
their glory by art conservator, writer and historian Rupika Chawla.
The Foundation undertakes all of its restoration projects on a pro bono
basis as a contribution to preserving the legacy of Raja Ravi Varma.

imprint of Westland Publications) is delighted to invite you for a
moderated session on April 23, 2021 with Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan, whose children’s book Prince With A Paintbrush: The Story of Raja Ravi Varma was released recently.
Shobha is an award-winning children’s author and has published five
children’s books in India. Her latest endeavour is to introduce one of
India’s greatest artists to the younger generation in the age group of
5-9 years.

India Foundation for the Art (IFA) in collaboration with Craft Revival
Trust (CRT) is working on a book on the Kasuti embroidery tradition of
Karnataka, supported by Infosys Foundation and invite embroidery lovers
to share archival photos/paintings/family portraits for this publication
where people can be noticeably seen wearing sarees embroidered with
Kasuti - especially the nine-yard saree worn traditionally.
Email mail@craftrevival.org with your archival photo, of decent
resolution, with details of the photograph, along with your contact
information by Monday, March 15, 2021.
This publication will be the third in the series of publications in the
area of arts and crafts, supported by Infosys Foundation. The earlier
ones were Embroidering Futures: Repurposing the Kantha and Painters,
Poets, Performers: The Patuas of Bengal, both collaboration of IFA and
Craft Revival Trust (CRT) lead by the scholar Ritu Sethi, who undertook
the research.Both these books have reached across various arts, culture
and educational institutes in India and abroad, and have received public
applause and critical acclaim. Embroidering Futures: Repurposing the
Kantha is now also available as a free digital downloadable copy on the IFA website. Poets, Performers: The Patuas of Bengal is available for purchase on the IFA website.
